The annual competition for the Malcolm Wall Trophy was held at the Heyrose Golf Club, Pickmere, on
Wednesday the 9th May 2007. There was a good turn out of twenty Old Boys and three guests. It was
particularly pleasing to have two Old Sals, Claude Davies and Alan Ford, competeing for the first time. The weather was cloudy which later turned to quite heavy rain, making life difficult over the last nine holes for the later starters. This however, did not dampen the usual good spirits and banter and an enjoyable days golf ensued. |

The winner of the Malcolm Wall Trophy was
the self effacing Jim Clarke with a tremendous score of 40 stableford points, due in his own words, "to a new driver and the fact that nobody would have beaten me today"!
In second place with 35 points was Trevor
Laverock with Ron Howarth finishing in third place with 32 points.
There were two prizes for nearest the pin, the
winners being Alan Ford and Jack Coleman, the latter nearly missed out when Ron Howarth ran into difficulties with his maths when converting 80inches into feet and inches and inadvertenly awarded the prize to Dave Ramsbottom whose ball was 7ft from the pin. His error was quickly spotted and although Jack magnaminously suggested that Dave kept the prize of a golf glove, Dave declined as he does not use gloves. |

There were two contenders for the wooden spoon, namely Albert Tonge and Derek Shaw. Steve Hindley insisted
that the wooded spoonist be named as a precedent had been set when he had filled the position in past competitions! |
