September 2003 will mark thirty years since Salford Grammar School
passed into history.
The following extracts are taken from the final edition of the School
Magazine, the "Salfordian", which was published in March 1973.
'Thirty Years On' 1973 - 2003
This edition of the "Salfordian" could be the last of a long line of 45 previous
editions due to the impending reorganisation of education in the city. It would be
sad to see this tradition come to an end. It is hoped, that some sort of magazine
will continue to be published. The format of the magazine is more or less the same
as in previous years apart from the usual change in the number of school societies.
As last year the editorship has been divided between Mr Morrison and a member of
the sixth form to avoid difficulties caused by the School being in two separate
buildings. It is hoped that the magazine gives the reader a good idea of the
activities of the School and its members during the previous year. Thanks are
extended to all contributors without whose articles and co-operation this magazine
would not be possible.
